If you are comfortable hitting us back with that key, we can start to narrow things down. My guess (and it is only mildly informed, these types of locks aren't actually my forte) is that you have a 3 lever lever lock that probably has very little variation in the position of the gates, so it would be an ideal first lever lock to impression. You may need to work in metal or wood, but thankfully, you can probably find a blank to get you started: (and there are plenty of other places to buy key blanks for warded/lever locks, I just happened to have MBA USA up in another tab)ģ: If you can't get the door open (via picking, or bypassing/pulling hinges, etc.) then you will probably want to impression the lock. For the Abus, Nirav had to switch to a full fill print to get the key to work without snapping, for a lever or warded lock, the amount of force might be beyond the point of breaking for common printer plastic. If you could provide an image of the functional key for the matching closet it would help inform what you'll need for your closet.Ģ: You may end up needing to work in a stronger material. Sorry it failed, but seriously, great work! Once we get your current problem solved I suggest you look into Nirav Patel's 3D printing work, as he's successfully printed Abus Plus and Kaba Gemini: ġ: I will be the first to tell you never to take photos of your keys and put them on the internet, but as this is a door to a closet, I don't think it's a big deal. First off! Kudos for printing your own key and going to all that effort.
